Kenya Update 1 (2020-02-24)
I’m with an incredible group of God’s servants in Kenya launching our newest course in the Biblical Character Series, Chiseled. Stephen Mairori, our regional director for east and west Africa, has gathered Walk Thru’s country leaders from Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda so we can equip these amazing communicators of God’s Word to teach others the life lessons from Peter.
There’s one person in particular that I’d like you to know: Michael from Tanzania. Michael has been married for 25 years, and has 3 children and 1 grandchild. He pastors a church of 2000, teaches in a Tanzanian seminary, preaches on radio, AND directs Walk Thru’s ministry in his country. It took Michael 16 hours to travel by bus to Nairobi for our meetings. That would be a sacrifice for anyone, but for someone as busy as this man, that’s a real sacrifice!
I’m amazed at the openness of his country to sound biblical teaching. Tanzania is 45% Muslim, 50% Christian, and 5% pagan. There are 126 tribes in his country, and with all of these potential points of conflict, there is remarkable peace among the population.
We have just completed our first day and Michael already has plans for teaching Chiseled that will blow you away. He has an open invitation from three secondary schools to teach the Bible to all of their students! He wants to start with this course because it is such a moving, true-life story. Most Tanzanians speak Swahili, but students learn English in school so there will be no need to translate it.
Michael also has plans to use all of the courses in our Biblical Character Series in an ongoing pastors’ institute to be held in his church for Christian leaders who are under-resourced. He will have to translate the courses into Swahili for this group, which he is eager to do. Michael says that in much of the African culture, pastors are viewed as masters. He says of Chiseled, “This course will help them become servants!”
Walk Thru the Bible is blessed to have global leaders with this kind of servant heart. We are also blessed to have people like you supporting these efforts around the world through your prayers and gifts. Thank you!

Here is Rich's Kenya Update #2. He is training our East/West Africa country directors in our newest course, Chiseled. These leaders will take the teaching back to their countries and begin training pastors, who will then teach Chiseled to the people in their churches. This is one way Walk Thru the Bible serves the body of Christ: by equipping and training under-resourced pastors.
